Terry Tannen is inspired by the extraordinary beauty, diversity, and abundance of the Earth's natural materials—
rocks, semi-precious gemstones, minerals, and metals.

Influenced by the mindfulness meditations of the Zen Buddhist master, Thich Nhat Hanh, Terry’s sculptures bring us into the present moment - a still point in time where creativity and healing exist.

“I construct a relationship between the stones that highlights their endless play of light, colors and textures. To me, nothing equals the beauty of nature. Isn't it the whole point of beautiful things that they connect you to something larger? This is where I find inspiration and clarity. We live at such a rapid pace — my hope is that the viewer will pause, take a deep breath, and feel in awe of what the Earth provides.”

Terry Tannen was born and raised in Connecticut. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, she developed her own two-dimensional artworks while pursuing a career in corporate design and branding—working for iconic graphic designer Herb Lubalin, NBC TV, and co-founding her own firm G&K Design Group. About 10 years ago, Terry changed her primary medium to sculpture, using natural materials, exclusively, for her innovative compositions. Her work has been exhibited in New York City, Westport, CT, and Southampton, NY.
